History of LFCF, Inc.
In 1977
General Vang Pao and his
committee founded the first Lao Family Community Based Organization
in Santa Ana, California. The purpose of Lao Family Community is to
empower the South East Asian refugee communities with the knowledge
and skills in making positive changes in their transition to
becoming self-sufficient. Today, there are eight Lao Family
Organizations nation wide. Each Lao Family is incorporated under
the federal tax exemption code 501(c)(3).
Lao Family Community of Fresno, Inc.,
is one of the eight Lao Families Nation wide (see below). We are
located in Fresno, California. Since 1981, we have served the
largest Hmong population in the central valley. The communities and
languages provided at LFCF are Hmong, Lao, Mien, Cambodian, English,
Russian and Ukraine, some Armenian, Latvian, Tatar, and Some
Vietnamese. Currently, there are three active projects are pending for funding.
